GPS Radio Collars - The Hunkap Pride

Hunkap

Charlotte (Xpl-53)
On 6 May 2009 an adult lioness, named "Charlotte" (Xpl-53), was darted near the Hunkap Spring and fitted with a GPS collar.

The Hunkap pride are descendants from two prolific breeding females (Xpl-9 & Xpl-11) and they are an elusive lions that are seldom seen. Attempts to dart and fit a radio collar to one of these lions have gone unrewarded for at least five years. This is a major breakthrough.
